THE COMPANY

Necton

Necton’s history is essentially based on creative entrepreneurship, which resulted in two types of business: Microalgae and Traditional Sea Salt.

Companhia Portuguesa de Culturas Marinhas SA., was created in 1997 with the aim of giving body to a project that was born at the Superior School of Biotechnology of the Catholic University of Portugal, which aimed to produce microalgae. It then begins to develop in the field of marine biotechnology, promoting technologies for the production of microalgae on an industrial scale. Later, it launched into the production and sale of traditional sea salt;

We are thus organized into two autonomous business units: the Microalgae Business Unit and the Traditional Marine Salt Business Unit.

 

 

Necton’s Mission is to bring to the market innovative products and services that result from Scientific and Technological marine knowledge. Our vocation is based on the integrated and sustainable exploration of salt marshes through the production of traditional sea salt, microalgae and the use of other resources from that environment.

We have a business vision oriented towards excellence. We will spare no effort to achieve this objective and positioning.

We want to be a European reference in our areas of activity and at the same time a regional center for economic development.

We will always seek to have the best products and services in all business segments where we operate.

Sea salt business unit

For thousands of years, humanity has been collecting salt from the sea or finding it on land. For most of our existence, salt has been a scarce, rare and difficult product to transport. Salt was literally a hidden treasure in the sea!

The resulting salt was unique in its mineral and crystalline impression. It was a complete, natural food, intimately linked to a place as well as a way of life.

Thus, Necton once again applies in its production a natural, environmentally friendly and socio-economically invigorating way and concept. We bring food to your kitchen, just as nature gives it.

Governed by the maxim that “Sal is not all the same”, Necton presents itself, nowadays, as a unique company in the market.

The production of Traditional Marine Salt and Flor de Sal is carried out using a unique methodology  that combines tradition with the modernity of management processes, innovation and quality, in order to obtain excellent products. As such, the harvesting of salt is done in a traditional and ancestral way. Thus, salt reaches all consumers, natural, healthy and just as nature gives it to us.

In this way, the effort of Necton S.A. is rewarded through several distinctions that make this company stand out from the rest for national and international recognition, taking into account the excellence of its product.

Microalgas - Phytobloom

The Phytobloom brand, both in its word and figurative aspects, represents an explosion of  Phytoplankton.

The Phytobloom range of products is a set of microalgae concentrates (phytoplankton), marketed for aquaculture hatcheries for marine and bivalve fish, aquariums and research centers.
